The Hand Listens, 2025
Series of paintings developed during a one-month residency at PADA49, PortugalA series of works translating sound to paintings. Each work is produced using a system for analysing sound, from which a set of digital based instructions are created. These instructions guide the painting process, reflecting on labor and tactility in contrast to the speed and immateriality of their digital origins.
Each piece was created from a unique field recording taken from the former industrial park in Barrerio, Portugal.
This body of work extends my ongoing investigation into digitization of human and non human world, translation, and the material expression of encoded information.
