Created during a one-month residency at PADA during, where I developed a generative system using custom-written computer programs to produce a set of instructions from audio recordings to create physical paintings.
These instructions guided the painting process, foregrounding labor and tactility in contrast to the speed and immateriality of their digital origins. This body of work extends my ongoing investigation into digitization, translation, and the material expression of encoded information.
This piece is made from a composistion of soundscapes collected around the Quimiparque industrial park in Barreiro, Portugal.
