About

Aaron Dees is a multimedia artist and PhD candidate based in the north west of Ireland. Aaron's work explores the intersection of natural and synthetic elements and processes through an experimental approach. His research focuses on the intricate relationships between ecosystems, perception, and technology within the context of ecological realism. Guided by intuition and scientific research, Aaron combines computer programming, data analysis, and mathematical principles with traditional artistic techniques to develop interconnected works that engage the environment. His primary goal is to reveal how computation can serve as a medium for visual art, augmenting our understanding of the complexities and beauty of the natural world and its ecosystems.

Aaron's current work focuses on developing his theme of visual soundscapes. In which he seeks out unique habitats to capture audio recordings, transforming them into visual artworks, making the invisible, visible. Using computer programming and mathematical principles, Aaron digitally manipulates these recordings. He brings these digital creations into the physical world through traditional drawing and painting techniques, exploring the intricate balance between representation and gestural abstraction, creating deeply layered compositions.
